There's always that game called Life.
To connect, press the big button on the front of yer case, stand up, and open the front door. The sounds you hear are the Real-Life interface kicking in. A thousand-and-one different plot turns at every corner. Different people to meet, places to go, in Hi-Def...and you even get to drive vehicles!
I stopped playing RPGs years ago. Once you get away from work, life is just one big complex wonderful RPG, with no need for updates, monthly fees, or connections. The other good thing about the real-world, is that when you talk about your adventures...no one calls you a D&D geek.
