It is a Literature form, called Satire. It is not supposed to make literal sense. What it does is provide humor in an otherwise non-humorous circumstance. It is not meant to be accurate in the sense you expected, but to provoke thought.
Satire in Literature, is much like a genre of music. I would not expect Stevie Ray Vaughan to be much appreciated by those who, say, only listen to C&W. Likewise, Technical Writing does not have much in common with Poetry, either.
It is hard to believe that, as evidenced by the overwhelming response not only here but from the Source noted below the article, that the teaching of English Literature is so sorely remiss. Alas! Such are the times!
