Default Kiss Controller Has You Swap Spit to Bowl a Strike

Videogames and making out don't often go hand in hand (or tongue in mouth, as the case may be), and in fact one usually leads to the rejection of the other. But not so with the Kiss Controller. This fantastic device is exactly what it sounds like. It's a game input device that manipulates the on-screen action based on your tongue movement, and yes, it requires a willing partner. Intrigued?

This experimental project was created by Hye Yeon Nam, an artist trying to earn his Tech Ph.D. at Georgia Tech. Towards that goal, he developed a bowling game that tasks you with bowling a strike using your tongue.

"The Kiss Controller interface has two components: a customized headset that functions as a sensor receiver and a magnet that provides sensor input," Nam explains. "The user affixes a magnet to his/ her tongue with Fixodent. Magnetic field sensors are attached to the end of the headset and positioned in front of the mouth. As the user moves her tongue, this creates varying magnetic fields that are used to control games."

What you're trying to do is score, of course, and we'll let you interpret that however you want. But more precisely, you score points by knocking down pins, and you knock down pins by wagging your tongue inside your partner's mouth to make the bowling ball move faster.

Could something like this catch on? Sure it could, just not for bowling or any other game that someone under 18 years old could buy on their own. But hey, if you're tired of resorting to naked Twister every time you have company over, something like this could ensure your dinner parties are still the talk of the town!
