-_- Yeah, I never saw much use for WMC.
That seems unlikely considering IE and Paint came with my copy of Windows 8. Dunno about screensavers since I don't use them.

They won't remove IE entirely for one reason, you NEED a browser, even just to get something else, you still need one. If they was to remove IE, they would have to have a way for users to still choose a browser for use from a variety.

I hate IE, but it's my gateway to another browser... Sad aint it?

Technically in the EU, there is supposed to be a Browser Selection screen. I have it posted in this thread:

Browsers: Which one and why?

In fact the EU is going after Microsoft cause with the release of SP1, the selection screen was removed in the EU. So they are going for MS cause of that reason.

So really there wouldnt even need to be IE, but the truth is that IE is built into the core of the OS. So while you can delete the iexplore.exe icons, you will never truly get rid of it without causing system issues.

If that's the case, what's actually changed when you uninstall/disable IE on Windows 7 via the 'Turn Windows Features On or Off'? I know it does actually do something since Steam relies on IE to work and the Store page etc. are useless without it.

There are controls that are built in to use IE, like Steam for one. But others that use ActiveX controls as well that rely on IE to operate. Disabling is 1 thing, removing by getting rid of the entire directory, registry files and anything related to IE is another. I know people who have done that only to have to reinstall cause the system was so unstable.

Well, I hope this isn't a bump

I personally don't use Windows Media Center, I much prefer VLC.

I stopped using VLC as it became annoyingly buggy and crashy. Moved to Media Player Classic and now have no issues.
