Agreed. When I had my MacBook I had no viruses.. I haven't a virus on my machine in about four years (Well, one that required a wipe of the drive, anyways.) I haven't had any on my Linux netbook thus far

In the 10 years I've been seriously toying with computers I have only had one virus. I got it at a LAN through file sharing and it wiped out all the patches and files I had for all my games and half of my music and pics. Worst part is, it didn't completely erase them. It changed all of the file sizes and converted them to infected files. So a 1gb BF2 patch could now be 130k but still look like it's really there.

I get infections often enough, but, it's from looking around for certain files, and no, not pron. You would be surprised at how many websites have a manual for a certain lawnmower engine and a VERY VERY nasty virus that actually requires the wipe of a drive, on every computer on the network... I never saw something so bad. But, even to this day, due to how apple advertised so heavily that they have fewer crashs/viruses/issues than a pc, people still believe it, and with the switch from xp to vista, a lot of people went to a mac, though, apple computers are exactly like a PC now in days, minus the operating system, and how propritary they are.

Cor..... Those sites are the worst, as no one suspects a virus on it.

Happens to regular/legit sites too. Yay data injection.

injections are so easy it's just a matter of combing through sites to find an area that you can throw something in which is super easy.

I don't think apple markets their products as being virus immune or anything, I think they know as well as everybody who spends more than 5 seconds googling it that mac's are generally the least secure. there was one 'contest' where the mac was taken over in under 2 minutes, vista took 2 days and linux wasn't hacked. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that there are far more people who work with windows vulnerabilities than linux or mac, but even so with mac since it's such a small market share it doesn't make sense to write viruses for it, there's no point. Until mac and linux reach closer to 25%-30% I wouldn't think that a lot of people will start writing viruses for it, at which point there will be a large amount of anti virus software for each platform so it won't be any better/worse than windows at that point.

as a diehard mac fan i hate the mac cultists and elitists. it's nice to knock them down a peg or two.

I think the most frustrating thing is when people say that they buy mac's because they don't get viruses. when the same end result could be achieved by NOT clicking on the puppy pictures and pictures of naked ladies on the sides of those weird Korean websites or the 'congratulations you're visitor number 1,000,000,000!!!! click here to win!'....

"Congratulations! You won!" *geeky voice*

Even if you are the safest person alive, you can still get a virus.

I'd have to agree with you there, however the chances of getting a virus in OS X is a lot smaller than in Windows.
