Default Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti Reportedly Launching March 15

Nvidia hasn't gone public with a release date for its GeForce GTX 550 Ti videocard, but according to VR-Zone, the upcoming graphics card will ship on March 15, 2011. While making predictions, VR-Zone estimated it will come priced around the $200 mark. It's based on Nvidia's mainstream GF116 architecture, which the company will purportedly tweak at the transistor level for a higher performance/watt ratio.

The GF116 part will come with a 128-bit memory bus by way of disabling one of three 64-bit controllers, as well as 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Citing leaked material, VR-Zone says the GTX 550 Ti will outpace AMD's Radeon HD 5770 in DirectX 11 content by up to 35 percent, and run up to 20 percent faster in DX10.

Other expected features include a 3-phase voltage regulation module for the core and single-phase for the memory, two dual-link DVI-I ports, a mini-HDMI port, and a TDP rated no higher than 110W.
