No one said it was "the greatest", it is arguably the "New"est; thus it's appearance in the "News" Section.
If you were given one for free you would not use it since there is another Computer that is better - are we to believe this ?
If you know so much about this things why not offer your Boss the advice?
The "dc7700" is discontinued and we have no reason to believe it would faster nor is the replacement 8000 Series lower priced or better equipped (and in some
ways not faster). In addition they are a different Class of Computer and not really comparable in any event.
Good job everyone SPAMming a FYI Post that some
people have been waiting for. The weaker "E" Series sold out and there is no reason to think that a better Processor (the "A" Series) would not sell well also. You can laugh at AMD all you like but I'm sure they are not crying.
While I do find the Llano interesting you might
guess that I too prefer a different Processor
; but I see no reason to cast disparages upon an achievement that is unmatched. First day out the door (and there exists a question of if you have read up on it) and you pronounce it crap since it missed some feature you, rightly or wrongly, though it ought to have. One of you (claims they) even had a chance to provide input to their Boss, must have fallen on deaf ears - that happens.
There is no reason to dis this Computer because your Processor is an Intel Chip. With these Systems available for $500 it can only bring the price down on Intel Systems which, if that is what you want to purchase then that, is what you would want.
You position only makes sense if you work for Intel, then you would want to say that these are not very good to keep the Intel prices up and innovation at a standstill. AMD and HP (or even Intel and the rest) don't spend many millions to make crap. The second round of Systems are likely to be better, these are neither bad nor matched (this month, or the next three?).
