Default AMD cuts prices on select Phenom II quad-core and six-core processors

Is it in response to the Intel Sandy Bridge defect or an effort to move product before the launch of its Bulldozer platform? Either way, AMD has quietly slashed pricing on some Phenom II X4 and Phenom II X6 CPUs.

According to Fudzilla, three X4 quad-core processors — the 955 BE, 965 BE and 970 BE — saw their prices cut by $10, which works out to between a 5.4 percent and 6.9 percent reduction.

The X6 chips saw an even bigger cut. The 1055T is now $175 (from $199) , the 1090T is $205 (from $235), and the 1100T costs $239 (from $265).

You can now get a six-core CPU for close to $150. It may not be as fast as Intel’s fastest, but it represents a great value if you’re looking for the most cores for the buck.

I'm sure its more that the SB, even with a defective m/b, kills the 1366 platform...... Which already was killing the AM3 platform.
