Hi All,

Just built a PC for friend - he mostly plays games with a little browsing/e-mail/Word stuff... but he wanted a PC that would "enhance " his gaming experience a bit.

Well we finished up the machine and I ran 3DMark 2003 just out of curiosity - it scored a 1105!! Whoa! That's a bit low isn't it? I've been seeing scores 3 to 4 times higher than that...

The specs are as follows:

P4 3.0E Prescott 800FSB
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
1 GB PC3200
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1
Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM 133
And the video card from his previous system

ATI Radeon 9000Pro

Windows 2000 SP4
DirectX 9

I'm just wondering where we went wrong to get such a low score...
it's a fast machine for sure - much faster than his old 733MHz.

Could it be the older Radeon?

Thanks
NewPCer

That ATI Radeon 9000 Pro isn't going to be a good scorer on 3DMark at all. 3DMark is based mostly on your graphics card, and with that graphics card, I wouldn't expect any more than what you are getting. Heck, some GeForce FX 5200 (comparable to your card) systems get below 1000 on it.

I agree too:D

You see 3dmark2003 needs a good directx 8 card to get the most out of.
I'm afraid the radeon 9000 aint one of them!

So its the card and not ur dodgy pc build. ;)

he should still get mroe than 1.1k. make shur u got all ur drivers set up correctly. is the 9000 agp or pci? if agp make shur u got agp chipset drivers installed.

Actually, 3DMark03 needs a DX9 card.
