I can get as far as to record video but not the audio.
my setup (to me) seems complicated...but it works half way.
So, I have a YPBPr cable connected to a component to HDMI converter. Then I have one hdmi cable connecting the HDMI converter to the input of the capture card, then another hdmi cable connected from the output to the monitor.
This setup gives my video but no audio.
The capture card I'm using only has a an output/input hdmi port and a Mic: line-In and Out.
How can I fix this?

Are you running an audio cable to your HDMI converter as well? YPbPr (Component) is only video.

Well, I'm using this cable:

http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-6FT...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

which is connected to this hdmi converter:

http://www.amazon.com/AGPtek®-Compo...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

and I have my hdmi cables connected from that converter above to this capture card:

Have you tried skipping the converter, and just going from the component cable, into the adapter that comes with the capture device, and then that adapter into the YPbPr input (that's one the same side as the HDMI in/out)?

I've seen that little YPbPr input; though after seeing it, I noticed the cable I'm using isn't that type of port... so that's why I thought maybe I could try through the converter and get video/audio through there, but... its confusing that the audio cables on the component cable is plugged in, (i can get audio and video if I just use the converter only) and HDMI cables are supposed to be Audio and video; its strange not having audio. (As soon as I connect the converter to the capture card, audio is lost)

With the Amazon link you posted, did your capture device not come with the adapter cable for component?

It may have.... I have to look. I've never used it before, let me check again.

EDIT: Yes, I do have that cable. And I'm testing right now...

Problem solved!
The YPbPr cable was the one; I'm able to capture both audio and video now. I don't know what I was thinking of using the converter and the capture card! I knew I was doing something wrong in the first place, just couldn't place my finger on it. Thank you for all your help, carnageX!
