If you preorder you only pay when it ships, and it reserves your spot in line for the Touch controllers. Meaning if you're the 1,000th to buy a Rift then you'll be the 1,000th in line at a chance to get the Touch controllers when they launch.

I wasn't going to preorder but since I don't have to put money down today I am going to.

As with any new technology, I will be doing the wait and see thing. I think it sounds pretty cool, but who knows?
