Connecting to Rise of nations online

I recently started playing RoN again, and it is now installed on a 'new' laptop, but when I try to connect to play an online game, I cannot do so. I can play solo games just fine, just can't connect online.

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad a little over a year old with Windows7 64 bit, Comcast is my internet provider, and I use a Linksys WRT 160 router for wireless. I have checked firewalls, even disabled it briefly, and set all the suggested ports on my router's port forwarding tab, but still can't connect.

Also, my external IP address for my laptop is unable to be ping'd externally. I'd assume that this is related to not being able to connect to RoN. I have no problem getting on the web, or playing online MMORPG games, such as ogame, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm sorry, I'm not too familiar with the game but you could always try googling and seeing if you come across anything similar to what you are experiencing.
