New SAN technology

Hi,

The company i work for are looking at a new SAN. The key requirements is that it must be multi-tiered and can be scaleable.

However, what I would like to know is what new features are available on the market that we should be looking to benefit from when purchasing a new SAN and was wondering if anyone can highlight these for me?

I'm no SAN expert and would be extremely grateful if someone can point out the major features we should be looking at so I can investigate them further.

deduplication, replication, front end UI, compression, redundancy, RAID support, connectivity options, management options, power reqs, isolation levels, time to build working system from scratch, 3rd party software options, backup options, snapshots, virtualization awareness
