Default Cluster build

I have a bunch of core 2 ectream ( 3 of em)
and core 2 duo, core 2 quad. I am thinking about setting them up in a cluster, I have 8 total towers and each has 4G ddr2 ram ( if i can find cheap some boards can have 16 to 32 ) and processor speeds are all 2.4Ghz and up, I am working on getting enough older 2G video cards. and want to build a cluster,

I will admit, I have never done a cluster before endless its like noding your workstations together, and even then i read and read and trial and error. so I am asking if any one knows of a Linux which is clusterable off bat, and if my towers will play nicely together
