I agree with you about the quality of parts anymore. Unless you but higher priced parts like Moog, a lot of the stuff is junk. As for the 12/6 test for wheel bearings, it won't work with ball joints unless he unloads them with a jack or jack stand. The lower ball joints have to be checked in the unloaded position. That means you need to jack up one control arm as close to the ball joint as possible and then try to move the tire with the 12/6 test. May have to have someone else move the tire so you can look at the ball joint while the tire is being tugged on.
