TCL VS TOSHIBA $300 Budget

Looking for a 32" tv, $300 budget
these are my top 2 candidates, any opinions

I've never heard of tcl, although the toshiba model is old...
There was a sound bug with the tcl but a firmware update got released and it got fixed
what do you guys think

tcl is a newer model and the toshiba is about 8 years old plus the tcl has 2 year warranty...
man idk much about tvs...
its for my parents so they won't be picky at all...

The TCL's panel is made by Samsung, who generally make pretty good displays. So, I'd go for the TCL seeing as it's cheaper, and all the other specs are in order.

Only negative I can find is that it's a newer brand in the states, and isn't listed as a compatable tv with universal remotes, though it sounds that some RCA tv set codes will work.

Thing about a tv set now in days, is who manufactures that panel, you can have two sets, one for $500, and one for $700, but both will contain the exact same panel, the only difference being the firmware, and manufacture name on the set. I would buy the TCL, has really good viewing angle, and apparently, good reviews from what I have found.
