Wondering about cheap recording setup

My friend is looking into using her computer to start recording her songs but i dont know anything about that so i was wondering what all she would need like software and a mic and sound card she doesnt want like a real fancy one she just wants it so that you can play like the music from songs on the program and then hit like record and start singing

Download a program called Acoustica Audio Mixer. With that, she can record her songs, and then add backing music, edit her song, make it louder/softer etc. It is not an expensive program, go to http://www.acoustica.com/. I also see there is a new program on their site called Mixcraft 2.0 which is designed for recording music.
Im not really sure what is good and bad in mike's and sound cards, so I won't give advice there.
