in that case, I would just use a 1/4" unbalanced cable. There isn't any advantage using XLR if it isn't balanced. Actually, if you are sending an unbalanced signal, you would have to use a direct box to balance the signal to go to XLR. So, using a 1/4" cable would be the best bet.
