I was wondering what is the headphone port called. I'm planning to buy speakers for my laptop, but i dont know if it will be compatible. I need 3.5 mm or RCA connectors. What are the ports on most laptops called?

thanks

just to add, in pc hardware terms it is called mini-audio connector usually color coded green on the sound card indicating speaker/ headphone output. the color red inidcates micophone input, and the blue is for auxilary input i think.

mini-audio connectors are the same kind you plug into a walkman. isn't 1/8th inch same as 3.5mm? i mean come on, 1/8 and 1/7, what diff?

of corse yuo won't see a differance,

But it is like buying 2 spaners, one is a Facom, and the other a shitty brand, well they will both do the job, but the Facom one will have the closest fit, and in some cases, will be the only one you can use

Hmmmm....not sure if it was clear.....but yes, 1/8 inch is the same as the 3.5mm adapter. The 1/4 inch adapter is the larger headphone jack that our parents used in their turntable back in the day!
"Parents" was just a figure of speech there....you all know what I mean...
