Weird AC97 Problem

Hi

First off I have a problem with my onboard AC97 sound. I have had problems with my PC for a while and am sure this is now the issue. The problem I have is after playing games for a while my framerate would drop to an unplayable level and a strange beeping sound would eminate from my PC. At first I was conviced this was my Graphics Card on the way out so I bought a new one. Sadly the problem persisted and it was only when I disabled my onboard sound that I was able to play for hours on end without any hiccups.

If anyone has any advice on this issue I would appreciate any pointers.

What are your system specifications?

Also what are you system temperatures?

If you still want to use your onboard sound, try uninstalling the audio driver, and then download and install the latest audio driver from the manufacturer's website (Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw).

However, I'd advise that you invest in a good PCI sound card...still. Though, some newer Realtek Audio Processing Units aren't too bad.
