Default video not working

I'm trying to watch videos and for awhile nothing was working but I figured out a codec that would help, only it plays the video with the sound but no picture is visible.

Online video+sound works with flash,

Also how can I get dvds to play? I used to be able to do it, but for some reason I can't figure out how to make it work...

I'm using Windows XP, and the DivX player.

thanks

That doesn't work. I've tried countless players and such. No file formats are working.

VLC should be able to decode DVD disc, it's work for me and everyone else. That's what it's use for, watching DVDs.

But you have two problems right? and one of it is that you can't view a certain video file..than what is the file type (mpeg, avi, etc)?

If you can get sound, and no video than you are missing the codec, I suggest download klite codec package.
