Video encoding and editing

I recently purchased a TV tuner for my pc. It encodes video into mpeg-2. I need a good software for editing the video to get rid of the commercials and a good software to change the video from mpeg-2 to mpeg4 or .wma so i can put the video on my zune.

The Zune software won't even convert media to "Zune" format for you?

yah i know it sucks, it wont even pick up on videos unless they are mpeg-4 or .wma

that software looks easy to use but how do i make it output into .avi. Sorry if you think im an idiot but im new to this stuff... how do i make it output as mpeg4

I haven't use it in awhile. I use win dvd copy 5 (it's not free). at the end you set the output to avi. when you are done rename the extension to mp4 from avi

this is so simple, but it isn't free. it has a bunch of differnt mpeg and mpeg 4 formats
