Video Card Selection

Alright, well, my Radeon 9200 is an AGP card and I was told AGP is the new technology and PCI has been obsolete for years and years. So if it's AGP and it doesn't work on my BRAND NEW motherboard.....then what do I have? Certainly not PCI I hope...

EDIT: If it makes any difference I'll describe them...the slot in my computer is just one long slot. The card I have is 3 shorter rows of pins.

My current slots:

PCI is obselete? Who the heck did you talk to?! PCI is still used! PCI is the main expansion slot for your computer. AGP is used for video. Whoever told you that PCI is obselete needs to get some help or stop giving advice on computers. ALL computeres have PCI slots (at least those after 1998 or so). If not PCI, then PCI-E (which i dont think is even really standard yet).

The video card you have is an AGP card. Does your motherboard have a slot (probably used) that has that same "layout" as your card?

I just looked up your motherboard. I found many of the same type, but different style. Can you give any more info on your motherboard? Reason I ask is because i found a couple different ones with the same model as you posted.

How many white slots are there?

How many brown slots are there?

EDIT:

By looking at your motherboard, can you tell me which one of these it is?

Well, while neither of those is my exact board (mine is green, not brown etc.) I'm going to say the P4P800-MX based on that "square" in the very center of the board facing the sides of the board and not the corners.

I do not see a slot that has the same "layout" as my card. All there are are memory slots (all full) and a 3 slots like the ones I showed above (1 being used, 2 empty). The hookup for my monitor actually appears to be directly integrated into the computer  And it's in an area right next to the fan that I don't really have any access to anyway...

EDIT: So thanks to you guys I've basically determined I have no AGP slots whatsoever and there's no way I'm gonna get my old video card into my new computer. Sooo...I'd like some help picking out a PCI-compatible card instead since it looks like I'll have to go with that. Are either of these cards any good?:

For only $10 more I think I'd rather have the second one, since it's DX9 compatible and has a faster effective memory speed. Also, are there any cheaper places besides NewEgg to get these?

you were screwed from the start going with dell, should have build your own and then you wouldnt be in this mess. sorri i couldnt help w/ the card
