VGA to Component not working

Well you say you want to do HD. Are you even sure the converter you are using can do HD? That would be your first venture to look at.

The movies will be the same quality. IT doesnt matter what PC you use. If you use teh same source they will be the same quality...

But the screen wouldnt even show on the monitor, let alone playing a movie.
Also, the older laptop may not play the hd movie smoothly.

Alvin answered this question with the 2nd post. Did you ever find out if your gfx chip supports vidoe output thru the VGA?

i have a nVidia® GeForce® 8400M GS
From nvidia- it supports hd and tv output.

Yes it support TV output thru the SVideo for sure. But does it support it thru the VGA connector?

if you get hd, it will only be on the computer monitor
