I've had my computer for two years and the only drivers I have been updating are my video drivers. I've had no problems until I tried to play Serious Sam 2 (not to be confused with Serious Sam: The Second Encounter).

Sounds seem to be missing. Sam himself and all his weapons are fine, but many of the monsters don't make noises and many of their weapons don't make any sound. This makes the game almost unplayable.

So I thought, well my sound drivers must be at least two years old so I will update them. I'm using on-board sound, I don't have a sound card.

My Specs:
WinXP Home.
Dell Dimension 4600i Motherboard.
Intel Springdale-G i865G Chipset.
Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller.

I'm not exactly sure how to update.
I went to this page:
http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-009241.htm
Then downloaded and installed from the 'top middle' download link.

Then I followed the audio driver information link that lead to this page:
http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-009244.htm
which tells me "Due to the variety of different AC'97 codecs that are available, Intel does not offer AC'97 reference audio drivers for public download. Please refer to the system or motherboard manufacturer for any driver downloads or updates."

I haven't had any luck searching the Dell website, and using Google I can find lots of files to download but I don't think I've quite stumbled across the right one yet. (I have no idea how bad trying to install the wrong driver would be).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

P.S: Just an aside, how can I find out my Power Supply wattage?

EDIT LATER: Ah, cool I found them on the Dell website. I was intially searching for 'audio drivers' and searching for my service tag. But then I created an account and it was easy to find. (Didn't help with Sam unfortunately).
