Just got a Turtle Beach TBS400 sound card,I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it ?

Would it be better than my onboard ac97 sound ?

Is it XP compatible ? the only driver's i see for it is for 95-98 & ME

Dj Chris will answer this one. he has one

outboard is alway better than board

Xp r usually just plug n play.... umm, disable onboard sound in your bios and see how it goes.. Turtle beach seem to be of high quality but not widely known

Shumway,

If what you have is the "Santa Cruz"(TBS-3400)by Turtle Beach
it is a great card for a modest price and will of course work fine
with WinXP.

It is much better than the onboard ac97 so definately disable the
onboard and get the TB SC going.

Here is a link to the driver if infact you have the Santa Cruz.........

Use the driver (sc 4193.exe) dated 06-27-03

Grab the Manual, drivers.txt info file and anything else you think
will help you setup your card.

ImUseless it's just an old TBS400 card that i got out of a friend's old Dell,I popped it in and it sound's alright for what i need,Now it's time for new speaker's cause mine can't handle turning it up more than 1/4 way :(

Sorry Shumway, I was hoping you simply forgot to add a 3 to
your card number-my bad.

If Im not mistaken you have a Turtle Beach with the Aureal Chipset
and I think named "Montego" or "Montego II". Aureal is out of business,
the card was made when Win95 was new and Turtle Beach no longer supports it with updated drivers. Heres a note from Turtle beach......

"Montego II: Windows XP

The Montego series of sound cards are not supported in Windows XP.
These cards were designed at the time when Win95 was the prevailing
OS on the market. Win XP will install the "Reference" drivers that offer
basic functionality.Reference drivers are not supported by Turtle Beach".

Im basing this info on the info from the ebay link. There should be a
chip name on the card, this is the driver you need. Look for a reference
driver in XP for either Turtle Beach or Aureal AU8830 etc......

Here is some info from Turtle Beach about their cards that came with
Dell Computers as OEM features. Hope this helps...................

Win Xp found it right away and installed the right driver's for it,It's not the Montego version it's the Vortex with the Aureal AU8820 chipset,So far it's working good for an old card,I just need to get different speaker's now.
