hi. i have a 160gb macbook with ~25gb music (always increasing). with the rest of my apps etc ive used about 60gb total so that i'm told i have 100gb available. still, i'm considering putting my music on an external hd and playing it off that.

i'm just wondering if that's necessary or if you guys would even recommend doing that? 100gb left seems like quite a bit but at the same time my music does account for slightly more than half of the space consumed.

thanks

Depends on if you think you n eed the room or if your music collection is going to grow a lot. I have mine stored on an external drive and play it off of it, and it works fine.

I got an external for ALL my media. It makes life easier. I have three desktops, and a laptop. I can keep all my music and videos on my external, and just pop it out of one computer into another and run my music from it.

It works wonders when I take long trips. I just bring it a long with my laptop and I have all my music without having to transfer etc...
