Greetings to all,

I have a pc in my room connected to the stereo in the living room. I have a Gigabyte soundcard with 4 output plugs, so I have a smaller seperate set of speakers connected near the computer.

I was wondering, is there a way to split my audio output so that, lets say, all of the sound output from windows media player will go out one hole to one set of speakers and all of the output from say winamp will go through another set of speakers.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance,
Rotem Tamir

you could do it with 2 soundcards. buy a really cheap one to use for wmp in the other room, and set wmp to it. for anything else, you can use your existing soundcard.

i thought in most media players you could choose whatever output you liked, regardless of what windows is set to?

EDIT: In WMP, if you go into tools>options>devices tab>speakers>properties then you can choose what output. for example, i can choose either:

"Default DirectSound Decive"
"DirectSound: C-Media Wave Device"
"DirectSound: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [C8C0]

I also have the same choices in winamp.

Re:

...I think it's that DirectSound can only output to one soundcard.

So, where WMP and Winamp uses DirectSound, only one soundcard can be active  ...
