It seems that the speakers on my second pc are not working
just yesterday they were working and now they definatly are not
the speakers are on
they ar plugged in
a report shows that my onboard sound has no problems
the volume is turned up
wat could be happening?

by the way im having these problems on my second computer
not the 1 in my sig
and also they are plugged into the onboard audio

im sorry if this is annoying but i just wanted to get this to the top of the list
it has been a wile and no1 has replied yet

its bin working for ages and its not on mute
so the rifght drivers r installed
and the speakers emit this kinda fuzzy noise
but its very soft

as talldude said, try testing with a different pair of speakers of some headphones.

I agree with Greg and talldude. Even with a little white noise coming though, a hardware failure is likely; busted speaker cable, for bets. Drat those tiny little hair-thin multi-strand cables; they fracture like 50 year old telephone wires!
Sound in headphones, but not from known good speakers?
Maybe bad speaker jack.
no sound (except the white noise) from either?
Maybe corrupted driver file

The whole business could be as simple as Crysalis suggested;
an unregarded, minor, well-buried settings option that got checked for "do not make sound".

And yes, this is my first post on this board. Hi.

thanks u guys
i shoulda cheked that earlier
but its my mums computer and she doesnt need the sound
by the way it was the speakers
i put in some earfones and it worked perfectlky
thnks for helping everyone!
