Speakers getting to much Gain.

My speakers are getting to much gain, they never used to do this before.

the thing is, I had to wipe my harddrive, and ever since then they have been getting to gainy.

another problem I am getting is, when I try to sign on the the internet (cause I have dialup, odviously), the sound gets a wierd, chopy sound, but after its done, I have to pause the music, and It goes away.

Any thoughts on these Problems?

Anyways...we need some specs. What is your setup? Settings? What have you tried?

I have altec lansing speakers, there not anything special, they just came with my Dell computor.

I have my volume up all the way on my computor, and at about 10 o'clock on my speakers.

Thoughs settings WERE fine, but now they bring in some gain.

I have tryed turning down the volume on both ends, but It just makes it quiter, not less gainy (is that a word?).

Have you listened to notice if just the music is gainy? I had that problem, and noticed my Winamp equalizer was causing it...
