Speaker Help

Help my computer like locked down. My little sister shut down My Dell Dimension 4700 by holding in the power button until it shut off and it wouldnt do anything it didnt have anything on it we had to reinstall windows xp and all the programs and everything but the sound is not working and the computer dosent even detect the speakers and every time i get an IM on AIM it goes ding and its not the speakers making the noise. what is the problem? please help.

Do you have any error Icons in your Device Manager ?

did you install the latest audio drivers for your soundcard/onboard ?


Did you install all the mobo drivers as well ?

i didnt do any thing i was just looking to see if i could download directsound

Do you still have your os disk or the disk(s) Dell gave you ?

The mobo/chipset/audio drivers should be on a "restore" disk.

i reinstalled all the disks and this is the only problem

Is there a power light on your speakers ?

Have you checked all the connections for your speakers ?
