Soundcard or not?

I bet it is. I just think maybe the audio forum group in general feels that you either have dedicated card with at least 5.1 channel system or you don't deserve to have sound. I think that for many applications such a system is not needed. Although it is nice to have and by far superior.

Just like guys argue that Intel is better clock for clock than AMD, which is a fact just as
onboard is weaker than dedicated, as a fact.

I hate surround sound, 5.1 or 7.1 makes no difference to me, i just prefer high
quality sound over crapola.

right. I do 2.1. 5.1 and 7.1 is great for movies or music that is steered right like with a lexicon processor (3 grand plus). a sound card can't make that sound

Yup, thats the only time i would care about surround sound, if i had a movie room and wanted to get that movie theatre experience.

But i don't need it for gaming or just bumping music, or for any tracks that i work on.
