Sound Cuts Out

I'm curious as to if theres a simple solution for this.

My sound will randomly cut out, for no apparant reason. If I'm listening to a song, or watching a video, it will pause, not continue. If I'm playing a game, the game will continue un-affected, besides the loss of sound.

have you got the latest drivers for your sound card ?

Are you using the built-in sound on your mobo? I've always found it better to use a seperate card, so as to be a bit more dedicated channels.

I believe it is built-in sound.

There is your problem. Get a card! $20-30 for a trash sound card will be better than your onboard.

Not necesarily. I have an onboard sound card on my Gigabyte motherboard, and the sound is perfect.

I updated the drivers, problem is not fixed though.

Run spyware, virus, and adware scans

Do that pretty much daily. I just installed some new audio software, and currently my sound is working fine, we'll see how long it lasts.

If that does not work, have you tried switching the speakers? maybe there is a problem other than your computer. Make sure the connection is good between the speakers and the computer.

How long does it cut out for? Does it turn on the next time you play a different song? Try giving us more details about this.
