Some good software for MIDI ?

what are some good audio programs I can use to record what I hear?
It doesn't really matter if it free or anything, its kind of for school.

I'm trying to rip an MIDI from this patcher my little brother has..
those are so addicting :]

Well.. Audacity has a built-in recorder. You can record from an input source (i.e. like a mic) or even record an output source (like what you'd hear coming out from your speakers). I can't remember how you do that...I'd have to do some research on it. Audacity is free BTW, and you can download it from Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com if you just search for it =).
