Hi,

I'm looking to hook my laptop up to my tv using an s-video cord, I went and bought one not knowing there are 2 types 4-pin and 7-pin. I bought a 4-pin cord and im wondering if it will still work on my laptop and tv (the laptop is 7-pin and the tv is 4-pin). I plugged it in and nothing came up on my tv so im wondering if the cord is faulty or if i need a 4-pin to 7-pin cord. Also does an s-video include sound?

I dont think they make a 4-pin to 7-pin converter. But you can try to find one. The laptop will need 7-pin to work.

No S-Video does not include sound. Only DVI and HDMI do.

so if i cant find a 4 to 7 pin converter i will have to use a vga or different cable?

vga does not do sound?

Exactly. If you can not find the proper converter you will have to find another method.

As i have already stated, DVI and HDMI are the only ones that transfer sound with video. They are true digital transfers. VGA, S-Video, Composite and Component can not do sound.

That is what i thought, but people here have said that they get sound when they use DVI to TV from their PC.
