Questions about adapter

I dont really know too much about cords and adapters and that such, but i was thinking about getting a ps3 and use my computer moniter as the display, of course it only accepts DVI so i surfed around an found a place that sells a HDMI to DVI adapter, I have a few questions that you might be able to answer before i invest.

First will DVI send video as well as sound?

How will the switch affect the quality of the image?

Is it really worth the money and i sould just go out and buy a HDTV that accepts HDMI?

no i dont think it sends sound but it would be worth your money to go out and buy an hdtv. cause using the hdmi cable with your ps3 will make it think that its going to an hdtv which will increase the quality but in reality itll go to a monitor and itll look like ****.
