A question....

OK, right now I'm running my audio off of the onboard audio from my Chaintech mobo and 2 old crappy HP speakers.

Now I'm looking to get a sound card and some half way decent speaker, mainly cause I saw a Chaintech 7.1 sound card for only $25 bucks on newgg.com.


Now what I was wondering is what makes the sound sound better? The sound card or speakers?? I play lots of music, racing games and the odd FPS, so I don't need anything super, but I want somehting nice, so should I get a $100 sound card and half way decent cheap speakers or a $25 sound card and nice $150 speakers??

Youd be better off with better speakers. I suggest ~75 for each tho.

OK, now are sound cards backwards compatible?? Can I use 5.1 speakers for a 7.1 sound card??

Card doesnt support dolby... and those speakers are okay, but Ive heard of issues with dolby on those too.
