Problem with windows and an encoded file

I encoded a video the other day, and now when I click on the file, the window will stop responding and it's really starting to **** me off. Does anyone know why a file would cause explorer to freeze just when it's trying to access it? Anyone know any ways to solve this issue?

Maybe a corrupt file. It's happened to me before.
Download mplayer and play it there (just drop the file into the mplayer icon). Once it plays, mplayer might fix it or use mencoder that comes with the mplayer download to re-ecode the video to something else.
