Problem playing DVDs

well your not lacking for hardware LOL, that can handle playing several DVD's at the same time

Try NVIDIA pure video decoder. it uses hardware instead of cpu to play back video

I got it, and when i go to play the DVD, a clock comes up with the second hand moving, I'm guessing because it's loading, but it too slows down quite a bit, just watching the second hands stop moving around, so it must be the DVD player if it isn't even playing it and it's messing up.

The CPU usage is up to 100% after closing all applications. either my processor isn't fast enough (i think 2.67 isn't that bad), or the DVD player is taking up so much CPU to try and read the DVD (probably).

I'll probably end up buying a new DVD player. Thanks for your help guys, and great idea to try the nVidia decoder. I would've never thought of that.

even though overheating can be a problem even though you guys have eliminated it lol,ive got plenty of ventilation in my rig.4 case fans and an exhaust.. go to the manufactures website and download the latest firmware if possible...

hope this helps

tom

youve got like 8 times the needed processing power to play dvd's, a 500mhz cpu with a 100mhz fsb will play dvd's just fine if thats all it has to do

the nvidia decoder software actually doesnt save that much, it isnt worth the $$ IMHO

actually, i used a keygen after i downloaded the demo, lol. what would i do if i didnt have keygens.

I Went to update the DVD, and it says it's the most current version. I might have a new DVD player tonight. TY

Well, i got one, installed it(which was very easy, the hardest thing was getting the screws back in) and it works just fine. I took out my master CD drive, which all it could do was read CDs, and replaced it with one that can only read DVDs and CDs. the non-working DVD player is DVD-RW and CD-RW so i think I'll keep it in hoping it could still burn well.

My CPU usage is only at 30% and it feels great. I'm using the Nvidia and hopefully it is helping the graphics of it. Once again, thanks for your help.
