I have a dell poweredge 1600sc server with a 2.0 xeon processor and 1024mb of true parity ram and the latest bios of a12. The problem I am having is when I try to install a sound card. No matter what sound card I use or which pci slot I install it in I get a Blue screen with "System Halted, parity error". This happens just as windows is finishing its boot. I get the Windows music for a split second and then I get the error message. I have tried swapping pci ports between my nic and my sound card. The nic works in either one but I get the error no matter which one I use for the sound card. I have tried changing the irq in bios but it does not help. This system has no onboard sound. Is there something simple I'm missing?
