Hello all, hope someone can help with the following query.

We have installed in our home a "smart home system" which is run using the octopus system from a central location. The TV pictures, internet, DVD's etc are all sent out to the various rooms from this location.

We have recently bought the ASUS D22 to act as our media centre pc and have recently plugged this into the system. The picture quality for TV, DVDs etc are all good but if we try to use the internet the picture quality decreases dramatically. We are just using component wires (the red/black/yellow) to provide the video output.

We can only use these component wires to link into the octopus system but clearly on the back of the ASUS there are HDMI/Svideo inputs etc.. which could I guess boost the picture quality.

Are there any cables out there with a component plug one end and a HDMI on the other or would this make no difference whatsoever??? When plugging the pc directly to the tv through the HDMI sockets the quality as you would expect is excellent but this defeats the purpose of having everything stored centrally. Any thoughts????

On a related issue the wireless keyboard provided with the system is not able to operate with the unit stored in a cupboard centrally. Are there any better quality wireless keyboards which can work with a PC unit stored in a cupboard in another room at a distance of more than 10m??? Is bluetooth the answer or is there something better??

Thanks all and I hope there are some geniuses out there who can help. :)
