Hey, I'm new here, so sorry if this is the incorrect forum for my problem.

I recently bought a video camera (low range Samsung one, flash memory etc).
I'm happy with the camera itself, but theres something weird going on when I try to edit my clips into a short movie.

When I play the clips in windows media player, it works fine.

When I open clips in Windows Movie Maker, they screw up, I can still play them, but they are all fuzzy/wavy.

When I open clips in 'Cyberllink Powerdirector' (an editing program which came with the camera), the clips also go fuzzy/wavy.

When I open clips in Ulead Videostudio 8, the clips dont go fuzzy/wavy, BUT the sound doesnt work..

I'm using Windows Vista if it matters. And the video clips are .avi files. And I had to install 'divx9' before I could view the clips at first.

Can anyone help me with my problem? Would be greatly appreciated.

Dove.

i believe your problem is just a codec thing

solved by dl'ing various codec packs or stand alone players

some people don't like to use codec packs
EXTREME caution must be used when obtaining codec packs, as some can be malware. RULE of thumb, do not download codecs from questionable material that requests the codec dl.

I use Vista Codec Package and Media Player Classic.
Vista Codec Package Homepage

may not fix your issues, but it's a start

I generally will take avi files and convert to wmv using Windows Media Encoder.
