nusiance file type appearances

I opened an E-Mail (that I shouldn't have) over a year ago. It had a Zb Thumbnail in it. It attached itself and deposited a faint icon of itself into every photo folder I have. I also have another type file...MVI.thm. A few of these end up in each folder as well. I have burned all of my photos to DVD. The DVD has these rogue files as well. What are these and Was this a result of a virus? How can I keep these from tranferring when uploading them to a new computer?

open my computer, click tools | Folder Options, click view tab, check do not cache thumbnails
