no video on my tv

Hello, I bought a g-force fx 5200 video card with a tv-out so I could watch mpegs,avi's and quicktime movies on a bigger screen.
I can surf the net,and use my computer on the tv now, but when I try to play any kind of video file all i get is a black screen.
I have tried playing my files through wmp 10, videolan, divx playa and nothing seems to work. Has anybody got any ideas what could be wrong?

you have 3 options

1. don't use power dvd as your main dvd software or
2. clone your display or
3. make your tv the primary display
