No Sound..

i have a problem with this message:

i looked for help and all i got was this website:
PC ****: Volume Control - There Are No Active Mixer Devices Available
i did what it said.. but..
when it said to click the start button under service status, service status was already started and it was greyed out.. and my sound doesnt work. when i send a message to someone on aim or get a message or something, my computer makes a beeping noise..
and sometimes when i click enter.
what do i do?
idk if this will help but here's something else:

everything was fine before until i tried to install ubuntu, accidentally deleted windows, and the internet for ubuntu didnt work, then i got windows xp back and yeah..

Hello,

Because you've re-installed Windows XP, and XP cannot find a suitable device driver, you need to obtain and install the audio driver for your onboard audio / soundcard.

You will also need to obtain and install drivers for any devices in Windows XP which have not had drivers installed for them yet.

Obtain the driver(s) from the manufacturer's website.
