No sound?

So my computer wouldnt connect to the internet so I had to re install windows. But I had to use a windows that went to a lap top. I had to download drivers for the graphics because everything looked like it was in safe mode. But the sound won't work at all, it says that you have no sound device. Anyone know whats wrong?

I did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro on my computer and was fighting with getting the sound to work. I just got it working after I downloaded updates from Microsoft. Maybe that will help.

It sounds like your haven't installed your Sound Card. You can check this buy right clicking my computer, click on manage, then on the left side select Device manager and see if you have any yellow question marks. Anything that has a yellow question mark is a device that hasn't been installed. Do you know what Sound Card you have?

I downloaded the drivers that i needed from gateway, but it says that there was a problem with the software and it couldnt be installed :\

I downloaded it from here Gateway Support - Drivers & Downloads
and I know that is the right kind.

you need drivers before the sound will work, no drivers for the soundcard= no sound

What soundcard is it?

I think it is sound blaster audigy

Go to the manufacturer's site and get drivers. Not Gateway.
