Need for a sound card?

Currently I am running my sound through my motherboard. I am wondering if I really need a sound card? I play some online games that require alot of listening for sounds to be good at and I wonder if putting a sound card in will help that. I have a really good set of headphones and can hear pretty good with them.

personally, i dont like built in soundcards, but that's because i'm very picky about sound quality.

i think you can answer your own question... do you need a sound card? does it sound good enough to you? do you have any need for a sound card?

integrated SC tend to not be as good of sound quality as higher-end add-on soundcards. it's just a matter of whether you'll notice it.

anyways... yes. Any sound card will do better than an onboard "chip" If not sound better, it will take some load off of your processor.
