Need A Little Help

I have a pretty much stock Dell 2400. It is fine for my uses but I want to upgrade the speakers. I don't know what soundcard I have and I don't think its that great. I don't want to change that. All I want are speakers. What configuration should I get? 2.0,2.1,5.1 I have no idea!

I believe that Dell (the pain of even saying the name causes me undo distress) has on-baord sound??? Put out some moola and buy an audigy form soundblaster. However, a very nice and inexpensive alternaitve is the Audiotrak maya 7.1 card:
