It also won't use WMP9, so 10 it is. Except when i tried installing it it said it wouldnt install on this version of windows.. wtf ?

I was fighting a similar problem. Windows Media Player would not recognize my Memorex Mp3 device. I ended up taking out XP SP2. It didn't fix my problem but I did learn you cannot install MP10 on a machine with XP SP2.

Umm that statement is so wrong. I have WMP11 on my XP SP2 machine just fine.

Gee from the looks of it even WMP10 comes preinstalled on some XP Discs wiht newer dates. So yeah saying that it can not install is wrong. Sorry.
