I've been revamping my system, and calculated that I could store my entire CD collection in a non-compressed format on about 150 GB of hard drive space (and I'm probably being generous). For the rest of my data, in total, I won't need more than 100 GB (and I'm being generous, again). The hard drives that are around today fully cater for my PC needs, and before long there will be audio data players that will fit my whole CD collection without the need for compression. (If I bought a 500 GB disk, I'd still have at least 250 GB of space free.

What I'm getting at is that a point will be reached in gigabyte saturation where people won't have to sacrifice on quality by compressing. Instead of mp3 players, there will be audio data players (Wave players?)

Anyway, that's my theory.

Cheers,
